Jeanne Edwards Roller, age 66, of Laurinburg, went to be with her Heavenly Father and was reunited with her loving husband, David, on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
Jeanne was born on February 16, 1957 in Wadesboro, NC to Donald and Carolyn Brock Edwards. Some of her fondest memories came from spending time with her big extended family at her Grandma Brock’s (Virginia and Dewitt) home in Polkton, NC.
Jeanne’s love of sports led her to Methodist College where she played collegiate tennis and basketball. After graduating from college, Jeanne became a P.E. teacher and was an instrumental part of coaching and mentoring the students at Scotland High School. It’s in Scotland County where she fell in love with her late husband, David, and together they raised their children in Laurinburg. Her love for tennis continued throughout her entire life. Jeanne could usually be found on the tennis court either coaching or in fierce competition with her close friends. She was an active member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving her church family and the Lord. While Jeanne was a woman with many titles, one of her favorites was being Mama Jeanne to her five grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband David Roller, her father Donald Edwards, and her step-son Russell Glen Roller.
Jeanne leaves behind her daughters Mallory Wemple (Tim) of Foxfire and Jessica Haywood (Josh) of Foxfire; mother, Carolyn Edwards of Hamlet; brother Donald Edwards Jr., (Mary) of Hamlet; sister Kay Gardner (Johnny) of Rockingham; brother-in-law Randy Roller of Hamlet; and grandchildren Kaitlyn Roller, Jack Haywood, Kennedy Wemple, Tripp Wemple, and Bailey Haywood.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Laurel Hill Baptist Church at 9850 Morgan Street, Laurel Hill, NC 28351.
A memorial service will be held at Laurel Hill Baptist Church, 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2023. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
