WADESBORO - Minister Jerry Ratliff, Sr. was born April 28, 1955, in Anson County, NC and was called from labor to reward, after a season of illness on Sunday, October 27, 2024, while residing at the Wadesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Jerry attended Anson County Public schools and was a graduate of the class of 1973 of Bowman Senior High School.
Jerry was known by many for his humor, kindness, sharp dresser and one who was always willing to share with others the goodness of our God.
He accepted Christ at early age and after a season of life challenges he was led to Bethel Colony where he found Love, Joy, Peace, and Happiness through the Lord Jesus Christ and rededicated his life back to the Lord where he also received the strength to endure the race set before him.
Jerry served well while at Bethel Colony as a staff member and worship leader, but God had greater plans for his life. After much prayer and supplication, he joined North Catawba Baptist Church in 2001 where he was licensed to preach the gospel.
Jerry was born to Mr. John C. Ratliff and Deacon Neller C. Ratliff. Preceding him in death were his father, John C. Ratliff and brother, John D. Ratliff.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his children, Monica A. Spencer and Jerry Ratliff, Jr. and Shenita L. Melton; his Mother, Neller Ratliff; his 6 grandchildren, Drequana Spencer (Lontavia), Undra Spencer (Asia), Yonnica Spencer, Makell McLendon, Hizmir Little, and Jerry Ratliff, III; his 3 great-grandchildren, Raelyn spencer, Brianna Hamlin and Chozen Lassiter; his 2 brothers, Danny Ratliff (Sheita) and Phillip Ratliff (Susan); his 1 sister, Rev. Pat Bennett (Pastor D.R.); his uncle, Robert Ratliff (Edna) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Wadesboro Health and Rehab for all that was done for Jerry while he was a resident there.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 2, 2024 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in West Deep Creek Church Cemetery.
The public viewing will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, November 1, 2024 at the funeral home.
The family is gathering at the home of his mother on Montgomery Street in Wadesboro.
