Jewell Chewning Morris

Norwood - Mrs. Jewell Chewning Morris, 84, formerly of Wadesboro and Sanford, NC, died Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Brookdale Place, Monroe, NC. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Monday in Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hochmuth officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1:30PM. Jewell was born in Darlington, SC, on October 9, 1931, a daughter of the late P.S. and Neilie Jones Carter. She was a public school teacher having in taught in several of Anson Countys elementary schools. She is survived by her two children, Ben Chewning Jr. (Lynn) of Wadesboro and Pat Molica (Jay) of Monroe; two grandchildren, Angie Dutton (Scott) and Brandon Chewning (Brandis) all of Polkton; two great grandchildren, Kayla Dutton and Brooklyn Chewning; two step-sons, Ed Morris (Jeanne) and William Bill Morris (Genia); four step-grandchildren, Rebecca McDonagh, Rachael Morris, David Morris and Meredith Morris; and three step-great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Finley and Paul McDonagh. Also surviving are three sisters and a brother, Geri Preslar, Brenda Day, Debbie Carter and Richard Carter (Glen); and numerous nieces and nephews. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Brookdale Place for their loving care and devotion generously given to Miss Jewell.
