WADESBORO - Mrs. Jo Ann Flake McManus, 68, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Warren Lunsford and Rev. Stephen Shytle officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Friday, May 13, 2016 at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home. Jo Ann was born September 27, 1947 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Fred Cameron Flake and the late Ashe Rebecca Edwards Flake. She had worked for 25 years at Wadesboro Manufacturing and later worked for 13 years Medical Specialties in Wadesboro. She was a life-long member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband of nearly 31 years, Jim McManus of the home; her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Burr Preslar and Joel of Polkton and Becky Tyson Baker and Coy of Seven Lakes; her grandchildren, Wesley Tyson and fianc, Amber James of Albemarle and Hallie Preslar of Polkton and her sister, Peggy Flake Cordell of Peachland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W.
