Wadesboro - Mr. Joe Thomas Burr, 74, died Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Hospice Haven of Richmond County. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Sunday at Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Whitlow officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00PM at the funeral home. Joe was born October 15, 1941, the fifth of eleven children born to David Henry and Mary Ruth Roberts Burr. He was a retired self-employed truck driver and had worked for both Howard Lisk Trucking and Jordan Lumber Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy; a brother, John Henry Burr; and two sisters, Sarah Tarlton and Lois Jean Gathings. Survivors include his children, Tommy Burr Jr. (Jody) and Dee B. Mullis both of Wadesboro; a step-daughter, Mary Morton (Turner) of Gastonia; five grandchildren, Alisha Mullis, Tyler Mullis, Morgan Crain, Amelia Burr, and Tommy Burr III; two step-grandchildren, Ian Morton and William Morton; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Kiker, Tyler Mullis Jr., and Brailey Crain; and a very special young man he treated as a son, Michael Knotts. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, L.W. Shorty Burr, Nick Burr (Evelyn), Tad Burr, Franklin Burr (Carolyn), Mary Evans (James), Martha Morton (Wayne), and Lillie Morton (Roy Steeler); and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
