John Henry Collins

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to call home our beloved father, grandfather and brother, Mr. John Henry Collins, age 80, while he was a resident at Wadesboro Health and Rehab in Wadesboro.

John was born June 18, 1942 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Henry Collins and the late Emma Rorie Collins. He was educated at West Deep Creek School in Wadesboro and worked for many years with Cuddy Farms prior to his retirement.

He confessed Christ as his Savior and was a member of Meltonville Missionary Baptist Church.

John enjoyed fishing, hunting, car racing and working on cars.

He was united in holy matrimony to Johnsie Mae Robinson Collins in 1967. At the time of her passing on March 20, 2019, they were married for 51 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law, John Henry Collins, Jr. and Avelyn; his grandchildren, Fiona Redfearn and Jakeem Redfearn both of Morven, NC; 7 great-grandchildren; his sister, Deaconess Neller Collins Ratliff of Wadesboro, NC; 10 sisters-in-law; 5 brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 5 sisters.

The family of John Henry Collins is grateful for the many acts of love and kindness shown to them during their time of bereavement. Also, a special thank you to the staff of Wadesboro Health and Rehab and Anson Community Hospice for their love and care for John. May God Bless you all!

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Park.

Public viewing will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Leavitt Funeral Home.

The family is gathering at the home of his son in Morven.
