Peachland – Mr. John David Helms, 56, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at his home in the White Store community.
A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, June 12th, at Freedom Biker Church of Monroe with Rev. Phillip Morris officiating. All are invited to attend.
Born in Union County, NC on March 23, 1965, David was a son of the Lynda Mullis Helms and the late Donald Wray Helms, Sr. He had worked for McGhee Brothers, the F.T. Williams Company, and also for Package Express Delivery Service before taking early retirement. David enjoyed deer hunting and running rabbit dogs. He was an accomplished “shade tree” mechanic and enjoyed tinkering with most anything that he thought he could get running again. David was a huge Washington Redskins fan, delighted in drinking coffee all day, every day, and enjoyed attending Freedom Biker Church of Monroe.
Survivors include: three sons, Jordan Helms (Victoria) of Wadesboro, Devin Helms (Madison) of Peachland, and Cameron Helms of Peachland; his mother, Lynda Mullis Helms of Monroe; his step-mother, Kathleen Helms of Indian Trail; a brother, Rev. Donnie Helms (Ronda) of Wadesboro; step-brother, Mike Pressley (Tammy) of Peachland; two step-sisters, Kathy Bradshaw (Keith) of Monroe and Dottie Nance (Steven) of Monroe; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family suggest gifts be made to Leavitt Funeral Home to assist with the cost of services.
