Charlotte Mr. John Adams "Johnny" Harward, 84, formerly of Wadesboro, NC, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his home. Memorial services will be 11:30AM Saturday, October 21st, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10:30AM. Born in Wadesboro on July 20, 1933, Johnny was a son of the late Frank Thomas Harward and the late Neta Helms Harward. After attending local schools, he joined the US Army and served a tour of duty in England. Later Johnny went to work for Westinghouse where he retired as a Field Service Engineer. Johnny always enjoyed NASCAR, gardening, fishing, the beach, and most of all, his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Deirdre Stone "Dee" Harward of the home; a son, John A. "Jay" Harward, Jr. (Cheryl) of Charlotte; a daughter, Lisa H. Cummiskey (Richard) of Indian Trail; two grandchildren, Richie Cummiskey (Lorena) and Kimberly Cummiskey; a great-grandson, R.J.; and a brother, Everett Harward of Wadesboro. In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Harward in 2014.
