MORVEN - Mr. John R. 'Rusty' Henry, 80, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.
Funeral services will be 4:00pm Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Washington officiating. Interment will follow in Westfield Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Cheraw, SC.
The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Monday, August 3, 2015 at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Rusty was born July 14, 1935 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Robert Lee and Olive Lee Jacobs Henry. He had worked with Duff Norton in Wadesboro.
Surviving are his children, Johnny (Terry) Henry of Monroe, Melanie Henry and Robbie Henry both of Morven and Susan (Leon) Cole of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Mandy Henry of Concord, Randy (Rachel) Henry of Locust, Angie (David) Helms of Wingate, Amy (Valentin) Cota-Becerra and Rocky Henry both of Monroe, Jennie Lynn Henry of Hawaii, Russell Henry of Morven, Jonathan Cole and Brianna Cole both of Wadesboro; his great-grandchildren, Bridgette, Brayden, Krista, Jamison, Parker, Kara, Shay, Selena, and Johnny Valentin; and his beloved Chihuahuas, he called his boys, Bug, Teddy, Cody, Moe and Joe.
Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Ed 'Tootsie' (Brenda) Henry of Kannapolis, Ronnie Henry, Timothy 'Runt' (Terri) Henry and Nancy Cox all of Polkton, Brenda Wells of Dallas, Becky (Don) Fitzpatrick of Aiken, SC, Sandra Henry of Lilesville and Jay Lee (Peggy) Jolly of Taylorsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Lee Henry and brothers, Archie Lee, Joe, Harvey, Robert, Jr., and Wendy Henry.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice of Union County and especially nurses, Monica Polston and April Roberts for the wonderful care given to Rusty while he was their patient.
