John Warren Pigg, 70, passed away after a short illness on January 28, 2025 at Conway Medical Center in Conway, South Carolina.

John was born on January 13, 1955 in Wadesboro, North Carolina to Myrtle Sanders Pigg and Charlie C. Pigg, Jr. He was a graduate of Bowman Senior High School in Wadesboro, North Carolina. Although as a young child he would only eat toasted "Ruth's" pimento cheese sandwiches, he acquired a passion and love of cooking from his mother. He worked with her during his high school years at Welika Lake Fish Camp in Lilesville, North Carolina. After high school graduation, he attended the Culinary Arts School at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in Asheville, North Carolina. John enjoyed a successful career as a general manager with K&W Cafeterias and J&S Cafeterias, working across North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Known for his leadership and kindness, he left a lasting impression on his staff.

Beyond his professional achievements, John had a vibrant curiosity about the world. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing adventures, attending NASCAR races, and investigating genealogy as the family historian. John made friends wherever he went; many of those would become lifetime friends he would refer to as brothers.

John is survived by his wife, Cynthia Estridge Pigg, and children, Diana Sanders Pigg (Adam) Kirk and Nicholas James Pigg; grandchildren Zeus Sanders, Gwendolyn Hunt, Eleanor Kirk, and Harrison Stubblefield. He is also survived by sisters, Sharon Pigg Helms and Deborah Pigg Norman; a sister-in-law, Anne Murray Pigg, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many close friends and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Myrtle Pigg, brother Charlie "Chip" Pigg, brother-in-law Dean Norman, and grandson Damien Sanders.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Surfside United Methodist Church in Surfside Beach, South Carolina.
