John Michael Mike Morrison

The obituary for Mike Morrison has been published as a courtesy to the Morrison family who have been long time residents of Anson County. INDIAN LAND - Mr. John Michael Morrison, 70, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Harrison United Methodist Church, 15008 Lancaster Hwy, Pineville, NC 28134. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the church. Born in Washington, DC, Mr. Morrison was a son of the late William Farmer Morrison and the late Velma Estelle Huntley Morrison. He was retired from Wachovia Bank with 16 years ofservice. He was a past town council member in Morven, NC and a member of the ROMEOS at Harrison Church. He loved music and was a baseball fanatic for the Atlanta Braves and lifelong UNC Tarheel basketball fan. Mike enjoyed keeping in touch with his family and friends thru the stroke of his fingers. Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Cathy McCallum Morrison; his stepchildren, Donna Russo (Rich) of Charlotte, NC and Robert T. Darnell, Jr. (Katy) of the Netherlands; his grandchildren, MacKenzie and Logan Martin, Jesiah, Ethan and Eva Darnell; and his siblings, Richard Morrison (Craft) of Wadesboro, NC, Linda Melton (Donnie) of Pageland, SC, William Morrison (Hanne) of West Palm Beach, FL and Eleanor Millinig (Dave) of Palm Coast, FL. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, who have always thought of Mike as much more than an uncle, but a hero as well; Larry Melton (Susan), LeAnn Melton, Lora Wyatt (Mitch) and Will Morrison; great nieces and nephews Slade, Hart, Trace, Ryn, Emerson, Owen and Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great niece, Huntley White.
