John C. Neal, III

Lilesville - Mr. John Clyde Neal III, 58, of Lilesville, died Monday, April 2, 2012. A service to celebrate John's life will be held 2:00PM Friday in the First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham where he was a member. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 1:00PM. John was born in Anson County on August 31, 1953, a son of John C. and Catherine Downer Neal, Jr. A veteran of the US Navy, he served as Petty Officer aboard the nuclear submarines made famous during the Cold War classified as Fast Attacks and Boomers. Later, John worked for and retired as the Human Resource Director for the BE&K Construction Co. based in Birmingham, AL. A proud and loving father, John leaves two children to cherish his memory: a son, Allan Neal, a daughter, Laura Neal, and their mother, Kelli Washburn Noble all of Birmingham, AL; his parents, John and Catherine Neal Jr. of Lilesville; two brothers, William Liles (Sandra) Neal of Concord, Stephen Downer Neal of Lilesville; a sister, Julie Neal (Mike) Poplin of Lilesville; nieces and nephews, Liles, Christopher, Jennifer, Andrea, Katie, Elizabeth and Michael; and great nieces, Ashlynn and Emma.
