POLKTON - On Friday, October 6, 2017, John Edward Russell, 53, departed his earthly home and beloved mother and entered his eternal home with his Savior Jesus Christ.
John was the only child of Mary Harrington Russell and the late John Thomas Russell. His life although greatly compromised by some physical and mental deficits was one of happiness as long as he could share experiences with his mother to whom he was deeply devoted, protective and loving. John lived through his mother who provided for his care for 53 years, surely an example of just what a mother should be.
John loved his home in the country, his golf cart, television, police scanner and was at his best when helping and doing things with his mother.
John was born in Wadesboro on July 11, 1964. He was a graduate of Anson High School and worked for 20 years at the McLaurin Center in Hamlet.
Surviving are his mother, Mary Harrington Russell of the home; his uncle, Lloyd Russell and wife, Sylvia of Wadesboro; his great-aunts, Margaret 'Peggy' Harrington Edwards of Charlotte and Betty Rose Harrington Taylor of Wadesboro; his great-uncle, Jesse Frank Harrington of Charlotte and special friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of the donor's choice.
The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com
