John W. Sellers, age 79, passed away at his home in Liberty Hill, TX from complications from esophageal cancer.
John was born in Gaffney, SC on November 17, 1944, and grew up in Lilesville, NC. John attended Anson High School and NC State University, where he played basketball. His work managing recreation centers and convention centers enabled him to see the world, from Hartwell, GA; Irmo, SC; Chapin, SC, St. Petersburg, FL, Tampa, FL, Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles, Bangkok, Thailand, Toronto, Canada; Kennewick, WA; McAllen, TX; to Cullman, AL before he retired to Leander, then to Liberty Hill, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Cleo Sellers, and his brother, Billy.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn, his children Belinda (Carl) of Liberty Hill, TX, Russell (Jenelle) of St. Augustine, FL, and Kristie (Keith) of Leesburg, VA, eight grandchildren, sister Betty Stokes of Hickory, NC, and brother Jim (Patsy) of Waxhaw, NC.
His “Big John” strength will live on in all of us, and we rest in the knowledge that he awaits us in Heaven with all of his loved ones that have gone before and a whole pack of very loved dogs in his lap.
