WADESBORO - Mr. John William Templeton, 79, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, February 26, 2016 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Washington officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home. There will be a graveside service at 3:00pm Friday at Carolina Memorial Park, 601 Mt. Olivet Rd., Kannapolis, NC. John was born September 6, 1936 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of the late Carl Lee Templeton and the late Georgia Elizabeth Cline Templeton. He worked as an officer with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for 35 years and enjoyed his second career in farming. He attended El Bethel Baptist Church in Wadesboro. John was devoted to his family and was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce McCollum Templeton, son, Chipper Chip Delane Templeton and brother, Marvin Templeton. Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Carroll Templeton and his sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Monty Harrell all of Kannapolis; his dear friend and companion, Cathy McLaurin of Wadesboro and her son and daughter-law, Jody and Rebecca Coward of Olney, MD; his granddaughter, Jessica Templeton and his great-grandson, Jake Templeton both of Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to El Bethel Baptist Church, 532 McRae Ave., Wadesboro, NC 28170. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
