John Junius Tice, 90, of Wadesboro, NC passed away on March 28, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Davis Tice and son, John Joseph 'Joe' Tice.
Visitation and viewing will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 11 am to noon at the First Baptist Church of Wadesboro, NC. Funeral service will take place at noon. Interment will follow the service at Anson Memorial Park with military honors.
John was born in Wadesboro on July 3, 1921, the seventh of ten children to John Franklin Tice and Georgia Anna Eddins Tice.
John enlisted in the Navy on July 4, 1942 and served for 3 years during WWII as an Aviation Radioman Second Class. Following the war, he returned to Wadesboro where he serviced piccolos with the Bluefield Music Company until becoming a salesman at Allen-Bennett Company for 22 years. In 1974, he purchased and operated Tice's Laundromat. In November 2002, he was presented the Veteran's Emblem in recognition of 50 years as a Master Mason with the Kilwinning Lodge No. 64, Wadesboro.
He served faithfully as a Deacon with the First Baptist Church where he ministered to others through biblical values and Christian love. From the ages of 71 to 88, John read the bible in its entirety 17 times.
He is survived by a sister, Edna 'Ebbie' Evelyn White; his son, Ralph F. Tice, retired colonel, USMC, and wife, Judy of Summerville, SC; a daughter-in-law, Anne Tucker Tice of Hamlet; and three grandchildren, Brian Tice of Arlington, VA; David Tice of Charleston, SC; and Megan Tice of Columbia, SC.
