Johnathan Wayne Yancey
October 17, 1990 ~ March 21, 2024
It has been one year since Johnathan’s untimely death and yet the disbelief and incredible loss remain fresh in our minds and broken hearts.
Johnathan was born on October 17,1990 to Carl Wayne Yancey and Lydia Robin Carter Yancey in Wadesboro, NC. He was a loving and generous child who shared his smile and personality with everyone and never met a stranger. Although he fought his own demons as an adult, he often reached out to friends to “check in” just to make sure they were ok. If he considered you his friend, you were blessed. He loved challenges… which he considered opportunities - whether restoring old tools, refinishing furniture or creating “something out of nothing”.
He also loved fishing and sitting by an open fire well into the night.
Those left to mourn him are his mom, his sister Megan, nephew Joshua and nieces Ava and Izzy. He also leaves behind a daughter, Alice “Aly” Lorraine and son, Damon Carl and their mother, Lindsey Hill.
When Johnathan was a child, his mom sang Lynyrd Skynyrd’s song, “Simple Man” to him.
“Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul
And you can do this, oh, baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied”
Rest in eternal peace, Johnathan. We will never forget you.
Forever thirty-three.
Forever loved.
