WADESBORO - Mr. Johnny Reid Marks, 86, died Thursday, August 25, 2016. Reid was born September 6, 1929 in Lilesville, NC to the late John Reb Marks and the late Mary Dallie Usrey Marks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Gulledge. Reid was a 1947 graduate of Lilesville High School. He was retired from B.C. Moore and Son Department Stores as store manager after 36 years of service. For many years, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro until the death of his wife. Then he chose to worship with his family in their home church, Gum Springs Baptist Church where he was ordained a deacon. Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Diane Marks of Albemarle; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Bill Henry, Ann and Moody Hough and Jeanne and Allen Snuggs all of Wadesboro and Marie and Ed Roberson of Memphis, TN and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Louise Rivers, Marguerite Bunn and Mary Alice Gathings. With love, the family expresses their sincere gratitude to their sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Bill for opening their home to him and for providing such loving care for Reid. A very special thank you to his church family for their love and support over the years. Funeral services will be 5:00pm Saturday, August 27, 2016 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Hill and Rev. Tom Walden officiating. Interment will follow in Gum Springs Church Cemetery, Lilesville. The family will greet friends Saturday one hour prior to the service and other times at the Henry Home, 1400 Berry St., Wadesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gum Spring Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall Building Fund, % Sarah Harrington, 1364 Haileys Ferry Rd., Lilesville, NC 28091.
