Joseph Solomon Mr. Murdock

LILESVILLE - Mr. Joseph Solomon Murdock, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Teddy Lawson and Rev. Donnie Helms officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Forestville United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Monday, April 13, 2015 at the funeral home and other times at the home. Joe was born August 4, 1934 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Thomas Walter Murdock and Adrien Ballard Murdock. He had worked for both W.R. Bonsal and B.V. Hedrick in Lilesville, was a member of Lilesville Baptist Church and a Gideon. Surviving are his wife, Josephine Pace Murdock of the home; his children, Joseph L. 'Joey' (Carolyn) Murdock and Thomas 'Wayne' Murdock both of Lilesville and Mary Lynn (Doug) Taylor of Wadesboro; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his step-children, Wayne (Amy) Pace of Wadesboro, Wanda (Nolan) Ward of Peachland and John (Kim) Pace of Iva, SC and 10 step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lillie Pegram Murdock and sisters and brother, Dorothy Murdock, Reece Harrington and Lawrence Murdock.
