WADESBORO - Mr. Joseph Rodney Winfield, 77, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, October 29, 2012 at Brown Creek Baptist Church, where he and his wife were married 55 years ago, with Rev. Curtis Williams, Rev. Rocky Carpenter and Dr. Leon Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends tonight (Sunday) from 7:00pm until 8:30pm at Leavitt Funeral Home.
Joseph was born October 5, 1935 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Edward Liles Winfield and the late Emmie Susan Ratliff Winfield. He was a graduate of Polkton High School and Wingate College and had a long and productive career in accounting, having retired from J.B. Watson Company in Wadesboro with more than 40 years of service.
He attended Harmony Community Church and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Lee Smith Winfield of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Anita Martin Winfield and Jeff and Christy Moore Winfield both of Polkton; his grandchildren, Kevin, Gary and Kacie Winfield; his great-grandchildren, Bailey, Slade and Kamryn Winfield; and his niece and nephews, Pat Winfield Long of Charlotte, Tommy Winfield of Norwood and Wayne Winfield of Shelby.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Edward Winfield and William Liles Winfield.
