Judy Hammond Lowery High

PEACHLAND - Mrs. Judy Hammond Lowery High, 76, died Monday, December 19, 2016 at her home. There will be a memorial service 4:00pm Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro with Rev. Ruth Mercer officiating. A private inurnment will be in Eastside Cemetery, Rockingham at a later date. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday and other times at the home. Judy was born August 23, 1940 in Richmond County, NC a daughter of the late Connie Lee Hammond and the late Lydia Mae Parker Hammond. She was retired from Anson County Schools and attended Peachland United Methodist Church. Surviving are her children, Penny L. Lee, John Lowery and Lee (Karen) Lowery all of Lilesville, Richard (Tammy) Lowery, Jr. of Wadesboro and Susan Brigman of the home; her sisters, Gayle Tunstall of Hamlet and Betty Rae Boyette and Lydia Mae both of Rockingham; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Vester Lowery and Jack High and siblings, Maggie Agatha Hammond, Renee Coleen Hammond, Connie Lee Hammond, Jr., Archie Glenn Hammond, Charles Elwood Hammond, Bobbie Calvin Hammond, and Sandra Faye Hammond. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peachland United Methodist Church P.O. Box 330, Peachland, NC 28133 or to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
