POLKTON – On Sunday, August 9, 2020, Mrs. Julia Baucom Bowers, 85, passed away peacefully at her home with her family gathered around her.
Funeral services will be 7:00pm Friday, August 14, 2020 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Hill officiating. A private family interment will be on Saturday morning at Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home Friday evening and other times at the home.
Julia was born October 27, 1934 in Anson County, NC, the Burnsville Township and was a daughter of the late Daniel Spurgeon Baucom and the late Bessie Howard Baucom.
She was a 1952 graduate of Burnsville High School and was co-owner and operator of J.B. Logging with her late husband, Jackie Lee Bowers, who preceded her in death in 2013.
Julia was an active member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and active in other ministries of the church. She was a member the Burnsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and could be found doing her part at the semiannual barbeques.
Surviving are her sons, Danny Bowers (Robyn), Reggie Bowers (Cecelia) and Sherrill Bowers all of Polkton; her grandchildren, Marty Bowers of Seattle, WA, Jaclyn Lammers (Neil) of Charlotte, Josh Bowers of Polkton Sam Bowers (Nikki) of Oakboro, Justin Bowers (Jessica) of Wadesboro and Catherine Bowers of Locust; her great-grandchildren, Olivia Lammers, Chandler, Carson and Chloe Lowder and Sadie and Aliya Bowers; her brothers, Don Baucom (Joy) and Cary Baucom (Pat) both of Charlotte and her nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Alfred, Bill, Shelly and Coy Baucom and Ruth Smith and Brenda Stevenson.
