Wadesboro Mrs. Julia Flake Teal, 92, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.
Funeral services will be 3:00PM Monday in the Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Ruth Mercer and Rev. Stephen Shytle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends in the church prior to the service beginning at 2:00PM.
Julia was born March 1, 1926, in Anson County. She was a daughter of the late Fred Flake and the late Charlotte Cameron Flake. She was a graduate of Deep Creek High School. Julia was a devoted wife and mother until her children were grown and then she enjoyed working for our local Anson County Hospital for twenty years.
A longtime and faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Julia served in many capacities and offices of the church. Her favorite pastimes included working in her beautiful flowers and spending time with her wonderful family.
Survivors include one son, Freddy Teal (Frances) of Wadesboro; one daughter, Betty Chatham (Geoff) of Surfside Beach, SC; five grandchildren, Scott Teal, Michael Teal, Don Teal, Amy Caskey, and Chris Johnson; nine great-grandchildren, Amber Shepherd, Ashley Teal, Maddison Teal, Kaytlin Teal, Lucas Caskey, Cameron Caskey, Colby Caskey, Gavin Johnson and Noah Teal; and one great-great-grandchild, Sawyer Shepherd.
Also surviving is one brother, Bob Flake of Raleigh. In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Norwood Teal; son, Don Teal; four brothers, Joe Flake, James Flake, Cameron Flake and Bill Flake.
