WADESBORO – On Monday, August 31, 2020, Mr. Julian “June” Bennett Thompson, 95, went to be with his Lord and Savior while a resident of Anson Health and Rehab in Wadesboro. June was born February 27, 1925 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Harmon Lee Thompson and the late Mamie Eugenia Hildreth Thompson. He was retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Butch Thompson (Kathy) and Patricia “Toosie” Thompson both of Wadesboro and Mason Thompson (Jo Lynn) of Concord: his grandchildren, Kevin Melton (April) of Chesterfield, SC, Christy Melton of Wadesboro, Cari Thompson King (Patrick) of Norwood, Ashley Thompson Friedman (Itamar) of Charlotte and Hailey Thomspon of Myrtle Beach, SC; his great-grandchildren, Brooke, Leane, and Hailey Melton and Cassidy Harward and his great-great-grandchildren, Sophia Parks, McKinlee Deese and Kasen Walsh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Kiker Thompson and his brother and sister, Bill Thompson and Mamie Cranford. Graveside services will be private in Anson Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family at the home of his daughter in Wadesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deep Creek Baptist Church, 3245 Deep Creek Rd, Wadesboro, NC 28170. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
