Katherine Ingram Leckell

Lilesville - Mrs. Katherine Ingram Leckell, 89, died Saturday, January 2, 2016, at her home. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Friday at Lilesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Kaye Fry and Rev. Richard Buff officiating. Interment will follow in Lilesville Cemetery. The family will greet friends Thursday evening at Leavitt Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00PM. Katherine was born July 11, 1926, in Florida, a daughter of the late Robert and Jeanette Covington Ingram. She worked briefly for the FBI in Washington, DC where she met and later married Melvin Leckell. Since Melvin served 31 years in the Air Force, Katherine lived all over the country and also for a while in Panama. Upon Melvins retirement, she returned to Anson County and to the Lilesville United Methodist Church which was an important part of her life. Survivors include her children, Mark Everett Leckell of Lilesville, Michael Eugene Leckell of Albuquerque, NM, Ellen Leckell Owca of Lilesville, Debra Leckell Horne (William) of Lilesville, and Wanda Leckell Hildreth of Greenville, NC; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
