Kay Floyd McLaurin

WADESBORO – On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Mrs. Kay Floyd McLaurin, 74, passed away peacefully at Novant Health Care in Charlotte. 

 There will be a memorial service at 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Deep Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Perko officiating.

 The family will greet friends following the service at the church on Sunday and other times at her home. 

 A private inurnment will be at a later date in Anson Memorial Park.

 Kay was born July 10, 1950, in Montgomery County, NC and was a daughter of the late Julious Terry “JT” Floyd and the late Frances Robinson Floyd. She was a graduate of Bowman High School and had worked for more than 20 years with Wansona in Wadesboro. Following her time at Wansona, she worked for a number of years with the Anson County Sheriff’s Office. 

 She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. 

 Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Darrell McLaurin of Peachland, Brian McLaurin (Katie) of Columbia, SC and Dana Thomas (Bryan) of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, Heather Torres (Carlos) of Newberry, FL, Holly Haehle (Kevin) of Groton, CT, Jadyn Thomas, Daniel Thomas and Preston Thomas all of Wadesboro and Evan McLaurin of Peachland; her great-grandchildren, Noah Haehle, Mason Haehle, Olive Haehle, Hazel Haehle, Xander Rossidis and Bella Rossidis; her sister, Jan Luther of Chesterfield, SC and her nieces and nephew and their families. 

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Preston McLaurin. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deep Creek Baptist Church, Deep Creek Christian Academy, P.O. Box 370, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
