Ansonville- Mr. Kenneth Lee Black, 66, died Monday, February 15, 2021 at Atrium Health Union in Monroe.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at 2:00pm Friday, February 19, 2021 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Swaringen officiating.
Kent was born September 9, 1954 in Montgomery County, NC, a son of the late Nelson Black and Mary Frances Aycock Black. Having started with his brother, Nat Black Logging, and working more recently with Matt Goodwin logging, Kent was a lifelong logger. He loved the outdoors – everything from gardening to hunting to wood-working, to bee-keeping and fishing – Kent loved it all.
Surviving are his daughters, Leslie (Stephen) Lee of Lilesville and Megan (Dan) Hughes of Rockingham; his grandchildren, Parker Lee, Mason Lee, Kristen Lee and Scarlett Lee all of Lilesville; his dear friend and companion, Melissa Howard and her daughters, Hannah and Jamie of Ansonville.
Also surviving are his siblings, Judi Kimrey of Norwood, Martha (Johnny) Mullinex of Troy, Nat (Carol) Black of Ansonville, Susan Keever of Albemarle, Robin (Donald) Shaver of Albemarle and David Black of Ansonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Bennett Black.
