PEACHLAND Mr. Kenneth "Kent" Carpenter, 82, died Monday, November 20, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe.
There will be a private graveside service in Peachland Cemetery and a celebration of life service at 6:00pm Friday, November 24, 2017 at Harmony Community Church with his son, Rev. Rocky Carpenter, officiating.
The family will greet friends following the service during an informal visitation and other times at the home.
Kent was born April 1, 1935 in Anson County, NC a son of the late William Wallace Carpenter and the late Ruth Garris Carpenter. He was a graduate of Peachland High School and attended North Carolina State University.
In 1967, he began his career as owner and operator of Southern Fabricators in Polkton and until the past two weeks of declining health he still went to work every day.
He was a part of Harmony Community Church in Peachland and was the third person baptized in the new sanctuary built in 2003.
Kent was a devoted family man and provided supremely for them. He loved spending time with his family at their home at Edisto Beach. He was proud of his familys accomplishments and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Twin Valley Country Club and enjoyed playing golf with his buddies there and at Edisto. He was an avid hunter.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Maxine McGee Carpenter; his children, Terri Little and husband, Rick, Cheryl Carpenter-Stewart and Ken Carpenter and wife, Nicole all of Polkton and Rocky Carpenter and wife, Sherry of Peachland; his grandchildren, Krista Little of Atlanta, GA, Rick Little, Jr. and wife, Stacy, Kent Carpenter, Christian Carpenter, Gracie Carpenter, Carson Carpenter, Rocky Carpenter, II and wife, Laura and Cassi Scoggins and husband, Zach all of Polkton, Ellie Nichols of Charlotte, Will Nichols of Ft. Mill, SC, Rhett Carpenter and wife, Erica of Quantico, VA and Cruse Carpenter of Peachland; his great-grandchildren, Zaiah, Cali, Elah, Rocky, III, Scarlett and Kaden; and his brother, Jerry Carpenter and wife, Avanelle of Mint Hill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Everette and Tom and his sister, Jackie.
