Kenneth "Kenny" Lynn Gathings

          WADESBORO – On Thursday, April 18, 2024, Mr. Kenneth “Kenny” Lynn Gathings, 47, passed away peacefully at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe. 

            Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Saturday, April 20, 2024, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Knotts officiating. 

             The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

            Kenny was born September 7, 1976, in Mecklenburg County, NC and was a son of Ralph Gathings and the late Brenda Gail Tyson Gathings. He was a 1995 graduate of Anson High School and was active in athletics, playing football and baseball. Following graduation from high school, Kenny took an interest in playing softball. 

            Those left to cherish his memory are his father, Ralph Gathings of Wadesboro; his brother, Wayne (Kimberly) Gathings of  Hope Mills; his cousin, who was adopted by his parents, David (Karen) Hagin of Newton Grove; his nieces and nephew, Kelsey (Bradley) Daniel and Kealee (Cade) Richardson both of Hope Mills and Dylan Gathings of Fayetteville; his great-nephews and great-niece, Bryson Daniel, Khloe Daniel and Axell Richardson; his long-time companion, Brenda Mills of Pageland, SC and her children, who he loved as his own children, Maleah Mills and Marlin Mills and his extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. 

            Kenny’s family is very grateful to the staff of Atrium Health and Hospice of Union County for all they did for him while he was in their care.
