MORVEN - On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, Mr. Kenneth Steve Maree, 76, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and family gathered by.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 2, 2023 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at their home.
Steve was born January 13, 1947 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Lonnie Maree and the late Emma Tyson Maree. He was a graduate of Wadesboro High School and Kings Business College in Charlotte. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served 10 months in Vietnam during his tour of duty. He was a member of North Wadesboro Baptist Church.
He made a career in convenience store operations, and was the owner and operator of North Wadesboro Grocery for 30 years prior to his retirement.
Steve enjoyed wood working, piddling with his tractor and spending time with his canine companion "Trooper", a beloved Golden Retriever.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 35 years, Elaine Hall Maree; his daughter, Samantha (Kevin) Boone; his grandchildren, Hailey Nicole Boone and Billy Boone; his great-grandson, Grayson Boone; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Randy Hall, Ellie (Howell) Mauldin and Lucy (Howard) Mauldin and his niece and nephew, Kimberly Lemmons and Keith Lemmons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Maree Lemmons.
