WADESBORO - Mr. Langford Alexander 'Butch' Treadaway, 71, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday, May 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Wadesboro with Dr. Robert Hunter, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Polkton. The family will greet friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Friday, May 2, 2014 at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home. Butch was born February 3, 1943 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Willis Alexander and Stella Munlin Treadaway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald and Donald Treadaway, his step-mother, Mary Treadaway and step-brother, Mac Osborn. He had worked for many years with West Knitting Mills and later retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He was active for many years with the Anson County Rescue Squad and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro where he sang in the chancel choir, hand bell choir, deacon and worked with the youth. He was also the recipient of Layman of the Year on two different occasions with Anson Baptist Association. Butch certainly had a servant's heart and that was evident in his participation with both a prison and nursing home ministry with the late Boots Hough. However, he is most noted for his wonderfully written notes of encouragement sent to many people in and around Anson County. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Louise Thomas Treadaway of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Wendy Treadaway of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Taylor Treadaway of Morrisville and Laci Treadaway of Wadesboro; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Mary Treadaway, Rev. W.T. 'Bo' and Jane Treadaway and Louise Treadaway all of Wadesboro. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Music Ministry, P.O. Box 423, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
