Mr. Larry Paul Carpenter, 80, of Wadesboro, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at his home.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bill High and Rev. Fred Carpenter officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home.
Larry was born in Anson County on July 2, 1931, a son of the late Fred Perry and Nezzie Tucker Carpenter. He had worked a number of years at West Knitting Mills, Inc. and the local Ford dealership.
Survivors include his wife, Dot Hildreth Carpenter of the home; his children, Scott Carpenter of Saudi Arabia, Vickie Carpenter of York, S.C., and Anna (Gary) Thomas of Wadesboro; step-children, Bill Watkins of Wilmington, Linda Hasty of Monroe, Sissy (Ronald) Stegall of Polkton, and Larry (Sally) Watkins of Peachland; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Steve Carpenter and Joe Carpenter, both of Ansonville, Jimmy Caudle of Peachland, Frances High and Lula Nell Kiker, both of Ansonville, Annie Edwards of Marshville, and Helen Taylor and Sue Dellinger, both of Polkton.
