Ansonville - Mr. Larry Wayne 'Hoot' Wilhoit, 65, died suddenly Saturday, January 31, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services will be 3:00pm Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Steagall officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Ansonville.
The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Monday, February 2, 2015 at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Hoot was born April 16, 1949 in Anson County, NC a son of Laura Cowick Wilhoit and the late Marion Lester Wilhoit. He was a member of the last graduating class at Anson High School and was a veteran of the US Army. Hoot had worked many years with both the Town of Ansonville and Beachum and Lee Ford. He was a retired member of the Ansonville Volunteer Fire Department and had served as their fire chief.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Connie Wilhoit of the home; his daughters, Heather (Calvin) Lambert of Morven, and Stephanie (Alan) Hartsell and Michelle (Harold) Griffin both of Ansonville; his grandchildren, Kurstin and Kolbie Hartsell; his mother, Laura Wilhoit of Ansonville; his brother and sisters, Wilbur (Toni) Wilhoit of Ansonville, Ann (Gary) Thompson of Norwood and Evelyn Poplin of Charlotte and his mother-in-law, Tessie Hough, of Ansonville.
Hoot will long be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to all.
