Laura Miller Holder

            PEACHLAND – On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Mrs. Laura Miller Holder, 86, passed away peacefully at McWhorter House at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.

            Funeral services will be 4:00 pm, Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Peachland Baptist Church with Rev. Jerome Cash officiating.

            The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

            Entombment will be Monday, June 27, 2022, at Crawford Ray Memorial Gardens in Canton, NC beside her first husband.

            Laura was born June 10, 1936, in Pickens County, SC at age 12 she went to live in an orphanage and was lovingly reared by foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Duckworth.

            She was a graduate of Brevard High School and Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA, becoming a registered nurse in 1958. She graduated from Memorial Mission Hospital of Western North Carolina in Asheville School of Anesthesia for Nurses in 1970.

            Laura worked as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist for more than 35 years having retired from Carolinas Health Care Union in Monroe. She was a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

            She was a member of Peachland Baptist Church, where she remained active until her health declined.

            Laura was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter “Walt” Hannah and her second husband, Charles Holder.

            She leaves behind her stepchildren, Shelia Robertson and husband, Ken of Winter Haven, FL and Cindy Blue and husband, Tony of Greensboro; grandchildren, Adam Robertson and wife, Carrie, Matthew Robertson and wife, Mary Rose, Rachel Garasha and husband, Jed, Samuel Robertson, Josh Blue and wife, Nicole, Ryan Blue and wife, Amber and Cameron Blue; 11 great-grandchildren and her beloved canine companion, Cooper.

            She also leaves behind her Peachland Baptist Church family, many friends including two who were a very special part of her life, Cathy Watts and Nancy Jones. Laura’s family is most appreciative to Cathy and Nancy for all they have done for her.

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peachland Baptist Church, P.O. Box 146, Peachland, NC 28133 or to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
