Lawrence R. Blalock

WADESBORO - Mr. Lawrence Ray Blalock, 73, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at his home. Services will be 5:00pm Friday, May 12, 2017 by the graveside in Anson Memorial Park with Rev. Steve Hill officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home. Lawrence was born May 2, 1944 in Stanly County, NC a son of the late Leonard Blalock and the late Louise Morris Blalock. He was the owner and operator of Blalock Concrete Finishing. Among Lawrence's favorite past times were fishing and enjoying 25 cents cup of coffee with the guys at Whit's Convenience Store in Wadesboro. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Janice Baker Blalock of the home; his children, Kim (Keith Lane) Threadgill of Great Falls, SC, Tim (Tabatha) Blalock of Rockingham and Tina (Brad) Pope of Prosper, TX; his grandchildren, Byron (Madison) Threadgill of Monroe, Austin Threadgill of Wadesboro, Tyler Blalock of Raleigh, Megan Blalock of Polkton, Hunter Blalock of Rockingham, Blake Pope and Ellie Pope both of Prosper, TX; his great-granddaughter, Brinley Threadgill of Monroe; his brother and sister, Lamar Blalock, Ann Hatley, Lois (Henry) Rhinehart and Linda Griffin all of Albemarle; his brother-in-law, Billy Baker of Wadesboro and 2 step-grandchildren, Taryn Lagrand and Qearia Braden. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Larry Blalock, Leroy Blalock and Lena Mae Whitley. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Cathy McLaurin, Caroline Harrington, Meredith Rape and Cynthia Dutton for the love and support they have given to Lawrence and their family.
