Leah Watson Martin

CHARLOTTE - On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, Mrs. Leah Watson Martin, 71, passed away peacefully Novant Health in Charlotte from congestive heart failure. Her loving daughters, Ashley and Michelle were by her side.

Leah was born November 30, 1951 in Wadesboro, NC to Sarah Elizabeth "Sister" Gray Watson and the late Marion "Shorty" Smith Watson, Sr.. She grew up in Wadesboro and had many close friends and relationships which has lasted throughout the years. While in Wadesboro, Leah was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Myers Park High School and King's Business College. She worked for a number of years as a Department Manager with Belk.

She was a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Sarah "Sister" Watson; her brother, Marion Watson, Jr.; her daughters, Michelle Martin Williamson (Kent Booth) and Ashley Martin Dalton; her granddaughters, Sasha Elizabeth Dalton and Trinity Ashe Dalton and many precious cousins and friends.

Those who knew Leah, knew she was a loving, caring, smart, and funny woman. She loved talking to people and always made them  smile and laugh.

She had a passion for writing notes and sending cards to her friends and family. She always wanted to know what was going on with her family and friends, especially what her daughters had going on each day and looking for an excuse to brag on her granddaughters, Sasha and Trinity.

Leah was an avid Carolina Panthers and UNC Tarheel fan, she loved watching TV and snacking on potato chips and jelly beans.

Leah's family wishes to thank the nurses who cared for her at Novant Presbyterian Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

There will be a service to celebrate Leah's life at 2:00PM Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Blvd., Charlotte, NC. The family will greet friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.

Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro is assisting Leah's family.
