On Saturday, December 15, 1956, Lennon Leroy Tillman, known to many as “Lent” was born in Wadesboro, NC to Hattie Mae Little and Edward Tillman, Sr. This soldier was called home on Sunday, May 3, 2020 while a patient at Atrium Health Union in Monroe, NC.
Lennon worked in textiles for many years, having worked at Wansona in Wadesboro. He was always the life of the party and loved by many in the community.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Shanta Baucom of Wadesboro, NC; his grandchildren, Quadre and Lemuel Sturdivant of Wadesboro, NC; his great-grandson, Quadre Sturdivant, Jr.; Shanta’s God daughters, whom he loved dearly, Dnetria Little, Myle Chambers and Jamera Little; his brothers, Charles (Vivian) Campbell of Mint Hill, NC and Michael (Bobbie) Tillman of Wadesboro, NC; his sisters, both of whom he loved dearly, Esther (Larry) Sturdivant and Althea Tillman both of Wadesboro, NC; a host of nieces and nephews, Cerisyl (Lennard) Hardison, who was very special to Lent and was his caregiver, Tameka Brumfield, Crystal Robinson, Lorraine Tillman, Monica Buchanon Dwayne Campbell, Marquel Simmons, Jermaine Campbell, and Leon Lindsey; his uncle, Lewis (Cheryl) Johnson of Temple Hill, MD; special friends, Vera Lemon and Ray Rorie and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Lucy Davis, Mary Borden, Thelma Simmons and Edward Tillman, Jr. and his great-nephew, Londrell Crawford.
The funeral service will be 1:00pm Saturday, May 9, 2020 at West Deep Creek Missionary Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery,
Family and friends will be able to pay their respects at Leavitt Funeral Home on Friday, may 8, 2020 between the hours of 1:00pm and 6:00pm.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions the service on Saturday is limited to a private family service.
