On Thursday, December 21, 2023, Mr. Leon “Tuna” Tanner, 52, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Union in Monroe, NC. Although the hearts of his family and friends are broken, trusting God in His infinite wisdom is how we find comfort during this time of sorrow.

Leon was born in Anson County, NC on Saturday, July 11, 1970, and was the son of Juretha Tanner. He was a graduate of Anson Senior High School and had worked with Plastek.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Juretha Tanner; his children, Sierra Tanner and Carrie Tanner (Majee) both of Winston-Salem, Keishawna Mooltrey of Boston, MA; his step-daughter, TaSheema “TaTa” Wright of Rockingham; his grandchildren, Genesis, Tameiah, Iverson, Alove, Janee, Jr., Najee, III; his brother and sister, Stacy Tanner (sister-in-law, Brenda) of Pageland, SC and Bernia Jaecksch Ford (sister-in-law, Shauna)  of Charlotte, NC; his nephew, Charlie; his aunts and uncles, Brenda Diggs, Shelby Sturdivant, Jessie Tanner, Roger Tanner, Louis Tanner and Eddie Tanner; his special friend, Kendra “Dee Dee” Hamilton; a host of cousins and other relatives and friends including, Keith Byrd, Theron Bennett, Warren Pratt, Tim Rivers, Jammie Lennon, Marcus, Little and Pondra Burns.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Thursday, December 28, 2023, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Park.

Public viewing will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the funeral home.

The family is gathering at the home on 1208 Summit Street in Wadesboro.
