WADESBORO – On Sunday, August 18, 2024, Lieutenant Tracy Lane Wilhoit, Anson County Sheriff's Department, passed away at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 22, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Wadesboro with Rev. Jeff Glenn officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Ansonville.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Leavitt Funeral Home.
Tracy was born October 9, 1973, in Stanly County, NC and was the son of Wilbur Clyde “Buddy” Wilhoit and Toni Jarman Wilhoit. He was a graduate of Anson High School and completed the Detention Officer Certification Course and Basic Law Enforcement Training at Stanly Community College.
He was employed with the Anson County Sheriff's Office for 28 years and worked closely with the Anson County Clerk of Court in civil court matters.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his parents, Buddy and Toni Wilhoit of Ansonville; his aunts and uncles, Ann and Gary Thompson of Norwood and Evelyn and Mike Williams of Mint Hill; his cousins and their families; his family at the Anson County Sherrif’s Office and the Anson County Clerk of Superior Court Offices.
Tracy was a good man with a huge heart. He never had a problem with working over or on the weekends to stay caught up on his work and to help his fellow officers out with their workload as well. He was always willing to help anyone in need, regardless of the situation.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He had attended Ansonville Baptist Church for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Cemetery Fund, c/o Robert Burr, 1287 Dickie Little Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
