WADESBORO - Mrs. Lois Edwards Smith, 87, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.
Funeral services will be 4:00pm Sunday, December 9, 2012 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Lois was born July 2, 1925 in Union County, NC a daughter of the late Bascom F. and Colon Carpenter Edwards. She had worked as a seamstress with West Knitting Mills, having worked 33 years prior to her retirement.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro and often referred to herself as a pew warmer, however, she was active with her Sunday school class and very involved in the church's annual missions day activities in cooking her famous homemade vegetable soup.
Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herbert D. 'Bill' Smith and by her sisters, Kate Griffin and Willie Williams. She is survived by one nephew, Ed Griffin of Concord and her special friends, Betty and Henry Nance of Marshville.
