Lonnie Mr. McLendon

Lilesville - Mr. Lonnie Melvin McLendon, affectionately known to family and friends as 'Billy' and 'Coon', was born May 6, 1943, to Marshall and Lucille McLendon of Lilesville, NC. He was called home on Friday, March 8, 2013 at CMC-Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in Parson Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Luther McLendon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Lonnie joined Gatewood Station Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Henry Grove High School in Lilesville, NC. He went on to work at Burlington Industries and later Coffing Hoists. Lonnie was married to Daisy McLendon and to this union three daughters were born. He loved his family and was a true friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Marshall McLendon, Jr.; a sister, Fannie M. Ingram and a niece, Brenda Ingram. Lonnie leaves to cherish his fond memories - his mother, Lucille McLendon of Lilesville; three daughters, Nina Hough (Anthony) of Lilesville, NC, Sharon Ensley (Antoine) of Charlotte, NC, and Melvia McLendon of Charlotte, NC; his 'wife', Daisy McLendon of Lilesville, NC; and three grandsons, Antoine Ensley, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Darien Ensley of Charlotte, NC and Donovan Ferman of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are three sisters, Elsie Tillman of Washington, DC, Marian Streater of Lilesville, NC and Hattie Burris of Charlotte, NC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
