Lonnie James Threadgill

Polkton- Lonnie James Threadgill, 86, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, August 31, 2024.

 Funeral services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Jackson and Rev. John Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery in Polkton.

 The family will greet friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the funeral home.

 Lonnie was born in Anson County June 25, 1938 a son of the late Elijah Craven Threadgill and Lucy Davis Threadgill. He was a graduate of Polkton High School and went on to work at Youngs Furniture Mfg. in Norwood and later as a salesman for Roof-Tec Inc. in Marshville before retiring. Lonnie enjoyed the outdoors from bird hunting and golfing to gardening.

 Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Barbara Jane Higginbotham Threadgill of the home; his children, Phillip Threadgill and Joel Threadgill both of Polkton, Traci Smith (Randy) of Peachland and Wanda Swaringen (Bradley) of North Myrtle Beach, SC; his grandchildren, Colt Threadgill of Matthews, Byron Threadgill (Allie) of Wadesboro, Austin Threadgill of Millingport, Doug Smith (Brooke) of Lancaster, SC, Devin Smith of Peachland, Brittney Thomas (Michael) of Longs, SC, and Drake Bowers (Jenny) of Norwood; and six great-grandchildren.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, J.C. Threadgill and Frances Harrington.
