Mt. Gilead – Mrs. Lori Ann Martin Thompson, age 55, died Monday, December 14, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service to honor Lori’s life will be held at 4:00PM Friday, December 18th at Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Burris officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
Lori was born in Anson County on January 5, 1965, a daughter of the late Donald and Ruth Allen Martin. She had worked as a seamstress at several garment manufacturing plants including American Lockstitch and also with WMJ Enterprises in Polkton. Lori was a free spirit who loved being outdoors. She was family oriented, enjoyed taking in and caring for stray animals, and enjoyed fishing. She also loved riding 4-wheelers and enjoying God’s handiwork such as sunrises and sunsets.
Survivors include her husband and soul mate, Robert “Robbie” Thompson of the home; two sons, Donald Mauldin of Mt. Gilead and Dustin Greene (Stephanie) of Eagle Springs; a brother, Vincent Jessup (Angie) of Coleridge; her mother-in-law, Gloria Jean Thompson of Polkton; a nephew, Chris Hethcox of Polkton; and her two 4-legged grand-dogs, Bailey and Bella.
