Wadesboro – Mrs. Lucille Ard Burleson, age 80, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from the Monroe Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, August 18th, at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck McKnight and Rev. Donnie Helms officiating. The family will greet friends in the Fellowship Hall next to the church beginning at 12:00 Noon.
Born November 13, 1941, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Lucille was a daughter of the late William Marvin Ard and Laura Marie Correa Ard. She grew up in the Moncks Corner area of South Carolina and was married to David Burleson who passed away in 2006. Lucille was a member of Faith Baptist Church where she attended until her health failed. She had also worked as a Teacher’s Aid in the Anson County School System.
Survivors include: two sons, Billy Burleson (Lisa) of Norwood and Denny Burleson (Ana) of Land o’ Lakes, FL; two daughters, Tammy Sims (Randy) of Peachland and Christy Womack (Ryan) of Monroe; 8 grandchildren, Brittany Chisolm (Josh), Nathan Burleson (Amber), Brinley Carpenter (Jordan), Preslee Burleson, Jason Sims (Elizabeth), Morgan Burr (Richard), Lydia Womack, and Aidan Womack; and 9 great-grandchildren, Korbin, Max, Jovian, Vance, Brooklyn, Theodore, Benjamin, Banks, and Emma.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her brother, William Ronald “Mickey” Ard.
The family suggests memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
