Peachland - Mrs. Margaret Frances Haithcock Allison passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Autumn Care of Marshville after several years of declining health. She was born in Durham, North Carolina on September 21, 1929. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Peachland Baptist Church and interment will follow in the Peachland Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11:00AM until 12:00 Noon in the Fellowship Building at the church prior to the service. Mrs. Allison moved to Peachland from Durham in December 1950 when Mr. Allison accepted a teaching position at Peachland High School. The Allisons planned to stay until spring when school was out but soon decided because of the friendliness of the community they would make Peachland their home. Mrs. Allison is survived by her four children, Charles Lee Allison and his wife , Marilyn, of Peachland, Edward Carr Allison and his wife , Kathy, of Shelby, Arlene Allison Vinson, and her husband Jeff Vinson of Polkton and Rock Hill, SC and Harvey Grant Allison and his wife Sandy of College Grove, TN. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Dr. Holly Allison Kiker and her husband, Jason, Adam Allison, Jill Allison Greene and her husband, Dr. Ken Greene, Sean Allison and his wife, Ashley, Victoria Allison Mooneyham and her husband, Brooks, Leanne Carpenter Olive and her husband, Bentley, Brett Carpenter and his fiance, Kasey Bibey, Grant Allison, Caitlin Allison, Spencer Allison and six great-grandchildren, Ansley and Harrison Kiker, Eliza and Lydia Olive, and Kyla and Paisley Kate Allison. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Fred Allison and his wife, Faye, and David Allison and his wife, Brenda. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Lee Grant Allison, who passed away June 18, 2010; her parents, Lukie and Garland Haithcock; 4 brothers, Russell Haithcock, Morrison Haithcock, James Haithcock, and G.C. Haithcock Jr.; and two granddaughters, Leah Allison and Hilary Ross Carpenter. Mrs. Allison retired from the Anson County School System as an assistant teacher at Polkton Elementary School. Grandchildren enjoyed many afternoons at her home going there after school and have many memories of those special times. She had been a homemaker and at home with her children until after her youngest child entered school. Mrs. Allison enjoyed reading and was a regular patron of the Anson County Bookmobile. She looked forward each morning to solving the daily crossword puzzle. She loved traveling and had the opportunity to go on a number of trips with Mr. Allison. Another favorite pastime was spending time at Cherry Grove Beach, SC. A faithful member of the Peachland Baptist Church Mrs. Allison attended regularly as long as she was able. Over the years she served in various positions in the church. Memorials may be made to Friends of the Library, Hampton B.
