LILESVILLE - Mrs. Margaret Williams Chewning, 67, died Monday, August 22, 2016 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Thursday, August 25, 2016 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. James Hodges officiating. Interment will follow in Jowers Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the funeral home and other times at the home of her sister, Winnie Williams. Margaret was born August 5, 1949 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Eddie Thomas Williams and the late Beulah Ricketts Williams. She worked as manager with Gardenscape and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Ronnie Chewning of the home; her daughter, Rhonda Chewning Durden and husband, Tim of Rockingham; her step-son, Ronnie Chewning, Jr. of Wadeboro; and her brothers and sisters, Bud (Ursula) Williams, Frances (Wayne) Gathings and Winnie Williams all of Lilesville, Ronnie (Kay) Williams of Bumpus, TN and Louise Tucker of Atkinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Infant Calvin, Tommy and Van Williams and a step-daughter, Angela Chewning Gibson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, % Ruby Smith, 11917 Hwy 52 North, Wadesboro, NC 28170. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
