LILESVILLE – On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Mrs. Margaret Martin Knotts, 99, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully to be with her Lord.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, May 13, 2024, at Lilesville Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Margaret was born January 26, 1925, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Elim Martin and the late Levicie Bell Martin. She was a graduate of Wadesboro High School. Although she never worked outside of the home, she worked hard at being a devoted wife and mother, caring for her husband and children to maintain a loving home for them.
She was a faithful member of Lilesville Baptist Church, where throughout the years, she has taught Sunday school for both children and adults, director of GA’s, active with WMU and sang in the choir.
An accomplished seamstress, she also enjoyed quilting, crafting and entertaining her friends in her home.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Maynard Knotts, Jr. (Robbie) of Huntersville, Mary Faulk (Johnny) of South Port and Wayne Knotts (Libby) of Lilesville; her daughter-in-law, Connie Knotts of Lilesville; her grandchildren, Rich Glover (Blythe) of Greensboro, Dane Hough of Alabama, Kellie Henderson (Marshall) of Ormand Beach, FL, James Knotts of Charlotte, Jeremy James (Cristina) of Bolivia, Nikki McKeithan (Kevin) of South Port, Max Griffin (Elizabeth) and Carl Knotts (Kristy) both of Lilesville, Heather Gerald (Stephen) of Rockingham, Hanah Knotts of Durham and George English (Erica) and Michelle Ellison (Darius) both of Lilesville; her 18 great-grandchildren; her sister, Jane Treadaway (Bo) of Wadesboro and her nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Maynard Knotts; her daughters and son-in-law, Shirley and Tom Glover and Paulette English; her son, Ricky Knotts and her brothers and sisters, Bill Martin, Donald Martin, Elaine Gardner and Mary Ann Wallace.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made ton Anson Community Hospice, A Division of Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N US 1 HWY, Rockingham, NC 28379 or to Hebron Colony Ministries, 356 Old Turnpike Rd., Boone, NC 28607.
