WADESBORO - Mrs. Margaret Thomas Lowe, 83, died Monday, February 23, 2015 at Meadowview Assisted Living in Wadesboro.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, February 26, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Benny Clodfelter officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at Meadowview Terrace Assisted Living Room 104.
Margaret was born December 18, 1931 in Anson County, NC the youngest of six children of the late Samuel Lowman and Annie Maude Baucom Thomas.
She was a 1950 graduate of Polkton High School and graduated in 1953 from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, now Carolinas Medical Center North East.
Margaret had a long career in nursing, with 37 and one half years at Anson County Hospital. A very short period of that time was spent working at Anson Sanatorium and help with the transferring patients to the new hospital in 1954. She also worked for two years with Dr. D.W. Davis and Dr. Fred Burney in their medical practice. She retired from Anson County Hospital, now, Carolinas HealthCare Anson in 1994. Following her retirement, she worked with her husband in the family business, Lowe's Printing office until his retirement in 2003.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wadesboro where she was a member of Cokesbury Sunday School Class, Hand Bell Choir and Wesleyan Circle.
Surviving are her husband, John Spencer Lowe of the home; her children, John Spencer Lowe, Jr. and wife, Karen of Goldsboro and Selene Lowe Hardison of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, William M. Hardison, Jr. of Monroe, Lauren Ashley Hardison of Wadesboro, Marissa Hardison Thomas and husband, Michael of Polkton, John Kenton Lowe US Army, stationed in Fair Banks, Alaska and Cameron James Lowe of Raleigh; her great-grandchildren, Waylen, Noah, Christian, Summer and Karson and her nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was precede in death by her son-in-law on Sunday just prior to her death on Monday, William McLendon Hardison, Sr. and her brothers and sisters, Samuel Lowman Thomas, Jr., Henry Green Thomas, Evelyn Thomas Tice, Annie B. Thomas Bricker and Sarah Thomas Marks.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Scholarship Fund, 118 E. Morgan St., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
