Margie was born in Anson County on October 13, 1924, a daughter of the late Leslie Pierce Brooks and Lila Ruth Moore Brooks. She was a lifetime member of Poplar Hill United Methodist Church. Margie was married to the late C.L. 'Slim' Hatley and was retired from Polkton Mfg. with 30 years of service. She gave a lot of love and received much joy from the many children whose paths crossed hers in life. Perhaps though, she will be best remembered for the delicious cakes she baked for many local birthdays, weddings, church and community celebrations.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Patrick Taylor of Louisburg; a grandson, Douglas Hatley White of Louisburg; and one brother, Benny (Ann) Brooks of Wadesboro.
Memorials may be made to Poplar Hill United Methodist Church, c/o Emily Carpenter, 720 Ross Wright Rd., Polkton, NC 28135.
Leavitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
