WADESBORO Mrs. Marie Hill Rodgers, 64, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines. We rejoice with her knowing that all was well with her soul.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Sister Martha Grant and Brother Terry Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Morven Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the funeral home and other times at the home of her sister-in-law, Lawanda Rodgers.
Marie was born March 23, 1953 in Moore County, NC a daughter of Kenneth Maynard Hill and the late Polly Ann Mae Richardson Hill Glidewell. She was a graduate of Ellerbe High School.
She was a homemaker and stay at home mom for many years prior to her employment as a mail carrier for the Wadesboro Post Office. She was a faithful member of Lambs Ark of Refuge Church in Wadesboro.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Johnnie Rodgers of the home; her children, Susanna Simpson and Sarah (Eddie) Marnell both of Robbins, Becky (Daniel) Freeman of Carthage, Sam Rodgers of Pinebulff and Barbara Moss of Monroe; her grandchildren, Johnathan (Teresita) Rodgers, Holly Roberts, Aaron Mabry, Devin Mabry, Katelyn Marnell, Alexander Simpson, Wesley Simpson and Wyatt Simpson; her great- grandchildren, Daniel and Logan Rodgers; her father and step-mother, Ken and Doris Hill of Ellerbe; her sisters and brother, Susan Smith, Janice Hill, Barbara Hill and Bill (Ashley) Hill all of Ellerbe; her step-brother and step-sister, John Tharpe of Walnut Cove and Annette Tharpe of Cary and her sister-in-law, Lawanda Rodgers of Wadesboro.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Freeman and a brother, Sam Hill.
